Art Alcaraz has lived in Riverside since he was a toddler and is a product of local schools. He attended Riverside City College and Cal Poly University, Pomona, and worked in the field Human Resources for 42 years. After retirement Art began teaching at UCR and is completing his 9th year in the Graduate and Undergraduate business programs. He has also taught for local business via RCCD’s Economic Development Department’s Customized training program. He is active in the community and currently sits on various boards and commissions including the Riverside Tamale Festival, Community Settlement Association, RCC'S Puente Program, the Riverside Arts Academy, The Cheech Golf Committee, RCC Tiger backers among several others. He has been active and successful in local community sports at various levels. Art enjoys life, musica and family – wife Alicia (Sha), daughters Anna Loza and Salina Alcaraz and sons David and Cruz Alcaraz and grandsons Michael and Diego. Art truly believes in the goodness of all people and that all can and do add value to causes they engage in. Three slogans he lives by “La Vida es Deliciosa,” “Equality Needs a Reminder," and “if music be the food of love, play on."
